恐怖分子襲擊法國巴黎查理周刊辦公室(Charlie-Hebdo Attack)! 快來用英文了解這起恐怖攻擊的始末!

• 恐怖分子闖入周刊辦公室 

    (Wednesday 7 January, 11.30am local time)Two *gunmen - Chérif Kouachi and his brother Saïd - storm the offices of the Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris. They shoot dead several people including the magazine’s editor and some of its cartoonists. Five minutes later, they emerge on to the street and get into their car to *escape. They drive north and exchange fire with a police *vehicle. One officer, Ahmed Merabet, is *wounded in the shootout; a Kouachi brother then runs up and *shoots him in the head. In total 12 people are killed in the attacks.

France has increased security at its embassies and other interests around the world after a French *satirical magazine published cartoons *mocking the *Prophet Muhammad.
    法國當局曾因為諷刺雜誌查理周刊以漫畫嘲弄先知穆罕默德，而提高其大使館及其他有關單位的維安機制。

    Reports say the man * suspected of killing a policewoman in Paris on Thursday is the *hostage taker at the supermarket, and is holding around five people. The French president, François Hollande, confirms that four *hostages were killed and four wounded in the supermarket in Paris.

    短短時間內法國一間猶太超市也遭持槍歹徒闖入，歹徒疑似週三射殺女警的犯人，一踏進商店就瘋狂開槍掃射，同時，商店內的五名人質也遭挾持，情況一度危急。法國總理證實四名人質中彈死亡，所幸持槍歹徒遭到擊斃，沒有造成更大的傷亡。

   People gather in Toulouse to *honor the *victims, holding *aloft pens and papers reading "Je suis Charlie" — "I am Charlie." "Everyone has the right to speak, the right to express themselves and we have to - even if they have a gun to your temple, you must scream, '*Liberty!'"

巴西人相信這樣的穿著可以為妳帶來好運。不過也不要穿著太昂貴的洋裝，因為它可能會在跨年的時候沾到紅酒或是白蘭地。

3. Make sure you’re wearing red or yellow panties. Apparently wearing a pair of red undies on New Year’s Eve will ensure a year filled with passion and love, and wearing a pair of yellow undies will attract happiness and financial success. So you pick: for love or for money?

穿著紅色或黃色的內褲。人們相信這紅色可以讓新的一年充滿熱情及愛情(真不愧是拉丁人呀)，黃色則是喜悅以及財富。所以你們想好要愛情還是金錢了嗎？！

4. Wear your undies inside out. But fix them during the first few minutes of the new year.

內褲反穿(！)。將內褲內外反過來穿，然後在新年的一分鐘之內換穿回來。

5. Eat 12 grapes for 12 amazing months. Latinos believe that eating 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight — one for every month of the year — will ensure you prosperity in the new year. Make a wish for every grape you eat, but beware of sour grapes. Eating one may mean that you have at least one bad month ahead of you.

在午夜鐘聲敲響時吃十二顆葡萄。人們相信每吃一顆葡萄就代表每個月分，吃下去的葡萄將會使你新的一年欣欣向榮；如果吃到一顆酸葡萄就代表會有一個月運氣不太好。

6. Make some noise to scare away monsters. Evil spirits hate loud noises, so the louder and crazier your party is, the more likely ghosts will never make it in the house. Party hard.

發出噪音把怪獸給嚇走！妖魔鬼怪們很討厭吵鬧聲，所以你的派對越瘋狂、越大聲，他們就不會進去你的房子。所以盡情派對吧！

7. Pack your bags and walk around the block. For the travel-obsessed: Latinos believe that doing this means you’ll travel a lot more.

揹著你的行李在附近走來走去。對於喜歡趴趴走的人來說，這麼做可以讓你接下來的一年有比較多的機會到處旅行。

8. Burn all the bad stuff. Write out a list of everything that bothered you in the year, burn it, and vow to leave it all in the past so you won’t deal with it in the new year.

將所有不好的東西給燒了。把你過去一年的煩惱寫在一張紙上，想像著要把他們留在過去然後燒了它，這樣你在新的一年就不需要繼續面對那些煩惱了。

9. Make it rain: Toss a bucket of water out the window or throw a cup of water over your shoulder. It’s supposed to mean you’re getting rid of last year’s tears and problems.

遇水則發！將一桶水往窗外潑或是灑一小杯水在肩上，象徵著你將擺脫去年的眼淚以及煩惱。

10.  Don’t sweep your house. Because if you do, you’ll sweep away your good luck for the next year. No worries, you can sweep up all the Solo cups and dirty napkins the morning after.

       People take continuing education classes for lots of reasons: to meet new people, to advance in their careers, or simply to pick up a new hobby. But for sheer vanity? One London college is hoping so.

Time reports that City Lit is offering a four-week course called “The art of self portraiture," and it’s all selfies, all the time. The college’s website encourages students to improve their critical understanding of the photographic self-portrait. By the end of the class, students should be able to use light, space, and precise techniques to make those selfies sing.

The class is for serious photogs, and you have to bring your own SLR camera. If you know all about Instagram filters but nothing about shutter speed, this class probably isn’t for you.
